Thwaites Hotels 1st Bad Review ... Extremely disappointing - I visited the hotel for a birthday lunch with my friend. I had given her a voucher to use in the hotel and she very kindly chose to spend some of it on lunch for the 2 of us! Unfortunately when we arrived at the hotel restaurant we were told only the bar menu would be available despite booking ahead and advising at the time we wanted to use a gift voucher for a birthday treat. We were really hoping for something a bit more special to mark the occasion. On our arrival we had stopped at the hotel bar to get a drink as we were a little early, but when told we could go through straight away we took the drinks with us to the restaurant. Shockingly during the next 2 hours we were not offered anything to drink with our meal, not even a glass of water and after ordering the main - which in itself was nice enough - the bill was then left on our table. No offer of dessert or coffee! We could not have felt more unwelcome. We then tried on a number of occasions to catch the attention of one of several hotel waitresses to request a dessert or coffee. Eventually we did catch someone but by then we had run out of time to order a dessert so just requested coffee specifically with hot milk. It eventually arrived with cold milk! We asked to pay the hotel bill at the same time and handed over the gift voucher. The staff member took the voucher but did not return with it. Eventually after asking several staff someone different returned with it saying in an over familiar manner 'we've been looking for you!' A strange thing to say but regardless we just asked to settle our bill using the voucher. At this point we were told that we would loose the rest of the value of the voucher as it had to be used up in one go. This seemed unreasonable as the voucher's value was more than double the cost of our meal and we had not been told this at the time when booking. We expressed our disappointment and paid cash. We also expressed our disappointment on the service received, particularly as this had been for a special occasion. The staff member seemed disinterested and aloof. We both left feeling extremely disheartened and unwelcome. This is most certainly not a hotel either of us would recommend!

Thwaites Hotels 2nd Bad Review ... Avoid - Firstly a dirty robe with someone else’s dried old plaster on the cuff of the arm was hanging in the wardrobe for me to wear, considering the Covid crisis I find it amazing how the hotel hygiene was so poor. The food and service in the hotel restaurant was diabolical I had to send my food back . The breakfast in the room was delivered incorrectly, and by the time the correct food came my other food was cold . This in turn put us behind schedule. When I made complaints to hotel staff no one seemed interested , it’s run by kids who clearly don’t have a clue on customer service , and the hotel chefs need to find another choice of career as the food is of no standard to serve.

Thwaites Hotels 3rd Bad Review ... One of the worst hotel experiences that my family have suffered - We had booked a Peppa Pig World Package and decided that we would go for one of the more expensive options.....big mistake. The arrival at the hotel was fine, lots of parking and a helpful hotel receptionist. Issues: 1. We had a family room which turned out to be a double bed and a bunk bed. the bunk bed was broken and I had to put the mattress on the floor for the eldest daughter to sleep on. 2. The hotel air conditioning was broken and with 30+ Celsius heat this made the room extremely oppressive. 3. We asked about breakfast in the morning and were informed by the hotel staff we were too late for any slots before 09:30!, no-one informed us we were supposed to book breakfast i advance, and we were told the only option was room service. 4. We had our room service breakfast, no coffee or tea, wrong food delivered and weirdly the bread element was totally missing, I called hotel reception and they advised that we needed to order coffee / tea even though there was no option on the menu to do so! the bread never turned up. 5. On the night we arrived we decided to have dinner at the hotel, my god what a mess!, tables piled up with plates and glasses, when we finally got our food it turned out they had forgotten one of the orders and the drinks took forever. It is beyond comprehension how this hotel has a 4* rating, the only thing that I can think is that the hotel has reserved it's worst rooms for Peppa Pig clients and hope that they just accept the mediocre service.
